Dr. Katherine Welch, MD
Pediatrician | Functional Pediatric Psychiatry Fellow | Advocate for Child Health and Resilience
Dr. Katherine Welch is a board-certified pediatrician and graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at the University of Alabama–Birmingham before beginning two decades of international service. From 2000 to 2019, Dr. Welch worked in Thailand and China, where she combined her medical expertise with advocacy, training, and clinical care for survivors of human trafficking. In 2011, she founded Relentless, an organization dedicated to equipping healthcare professionals and survivor assistance programs to address the complex health impacts of exploitation and trauma.
After 19 years in Asia and three years in Europe, Dr. Welch returned to Indianapolis in 2022, where she continues her anti-trafficking work, develops educational tools for healthcare providers, and provides trauma-informed pediatric care.
Dr. Welch is a member of the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS) and a Senior Fellow of the Independent Medical Alliance. She is currently completing a Functional Pediatric Psychiatry Fellowship, deepening her focus on identifying root causes and natural approaches to the growing mental health challenges among children and teens.
As a core clinician with the Resilience Health Network, Dr. Welch also supports individuals seeking restoration of innate sex traits and overall health after prior masculinizing or feminizing medical interventions. She has spoken on this topic in professional webinars and appears in the documentary Gender Transformation.
Dr. Welch’s superpower is her compassionate, integrative, and evidence-based approach to child wellness. She is a champion in the fight for our children emphasizing resilience, healing, and hope.
